When Daniel Allen was 3 years old, he was diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum and his parents were told that he would face many challenges during his life, including never playing team sports. However, thanks to the support from his family, teachers and coaches, Allen, now 11, has found success at school and on the playing field. After a stellar season on the baseball field, Allen was made a member of the Paseo Verde Green All-Star baseball team. And at school, he was recently voted “most friendly” by his classmates. Recently, he threw out the first pitch at a Las Vegas 51s game. Clark County commissioners also have recognized Daniel and the many members of “Team Daniel” who have helped make such a difference in his life. One lesson: It’s important to diagnose autism early so that appropriate treatment can be secured.
